Product Overview
The Yaskawa CDBR-4045B is a previous-generation 400 V-class dynamic braking transistor unit used with industrial AC drives. It provides a rated discharge current of 18 A and a maximum peak discharge current of 60 A.
The unit detects DC bus voltage during deceleration and switches regenerated energy into an external braking resistor. It is not a braking resistor and cannot operate as a complete braking system without a correctly selected resistor and thermal-protection circuit.

Compatible System and Applications
The CDBR-4045B was used with several previous-generation Yaskawa industrial drive families. The exact compatible drive cannot be identified from voltage class alone. Confirm the complete inverter model, DC bus terminals, braking-resistor arrangement and control circuit.
Typical legacy applications include cranes, hoists, conveyors, winders, machine tools, centrifuges and production machinery requiring shorter deceleration times.
Maintenance and Replacement Notes
Before replacing an existing CDBR-4045B, verify the supply-voltage selection connector, master or slave setting, power terminals, control terminals, external resistor resistance and thermal-protection circuit.
The legacy selection table associates one CDBR-4045B with a 60 HP or 45 kW application under defined braking conditions. This is a reference combination rather than a universal maximum motor rating.
CDBR-40450D is the corresponding current 18 Arms D-series model. The changeover is not automatically plug-and-play because the B and D units differ in enclosure depth, width, mounting arrangement and terminal configuration.
