The Yaskawa CDBR-42200D is a high-capacity 480 VAC-class dynamic braking transistor module for large industrial variable-frequency drive systems. The shortened designation CDBR-4220D is widely used in drawings, maintenance records and market searches, while CDBR-42200D is the complete model number.
The module controls the transfer of regenerated DC bus energy into an external braking resistor during rapid deceleration or operation with an overhauling load. Its 80 Arms rated current and 250 A peak-current capability make it suitable for demanding drive applications where a smaller braking module does not provide sufficient capacity.

The CDBR-42200D is intended for compatible high-capacity industrial AC drive systems. The quantity of modules and resistor banks must be selected from the drive-specific braking tables. Motor horsepower alone is not sufficient because braking requirements depend on load inertia, overhauling torque, stopping time, operating frequency and resistor thermal capacity.
Typical applications include large cranes, hoists, mine conveyors, centrifuges, winders, test stands, large machine tools, downhill conveyors and other systems that return substantial mechanical energy to the DC bus.
Install the IP00 module inside a suitable protected electrical enclosure with adequate clearance and ventilation. Verify the calculated braking current, minimum resistance, resistor wattage, thermal protection, conductor size and terminal torque.
Multiple CDBR modules must not be connected in parallel by assumption. Follow the approved master and slave control arrangement and the drive manufacturer's wiring instructions.
The previous-generation CDBR-4220B has the same nominal 80 Arms and 250 A current class, but the D-version upgrade requires verification of enclosure size, mounting points, terminal layout, wiring and braking-resistor configuration.
