IAI DS-S-C1 is a legacy single-axis actuator controller developed for a matching IAI DS-series actuator system. It manages actuator positioning, operating sequences, input and output signals and controller status within older industrial automation equipment.

The model is primarily used for repair and restoration of installed machinery. Because the DS-S controller generation is obsolete, exact matching of the controller, actuator, electrical configuration, connectors and stored operating data is particularly important.

DS-S-C1 may be installed in older assembly machinery, transfer equipment, positioning systems, inspection stations, loading mechanisms and custom automation systems using a compatible DS-series actuator.

The exact controller functions depend on the original machine design, actuator configuration and installed control program. The electrical interface and connector layout should be confirmed directly from the original controller and machine documentation.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

IAI lists DS-S-C1 as a discontinued controller with production ending in October 2008. The official successor direction is RSEL, but the conversion should not be considered a direct controller swap.

Before removing the original DS-S-C1, back up available program data, positions and parameters. Record the connected actuator model, motor and encoder information, controller power supply, I/O assignments, safety circuits and all terminal connections.

A conversion to RSEL may require changes to wiring, dimensions, software, actuator compatibility, parameter format and machine-control logic. An engineering review is therefore required before replacing the legacy system with a newer controller platform.

After installing an exact replacement, test actuator movement at reduced speed. Verify direction, home position, stroke limits, input and output signals, alarms, emergency-stop operation and the complete machine sequence before normal production.
